TH 169 Turnback Streetscape

City of Bovey

MnDOT and Itasca County reconstructed old TH 169 through the City of Bovey as part of a turn-back agreement after the new TH 169 bypassed the city. (S.A.P. 31-661-09).

Part of the project included a streetscape component that JPJ Engineering began with a concept master plan and eventually developed into detailed project amenities at each of the major intersections; which were incorporated into the state aid plans. Project components included a center lane stamped concrete section, stamped concrete bump outs, bicycle racks, benches, waste receptacles, 22 deciduous trees, and 53 decorative lights.

The project resulted included a redevelopment of the downtown Bovey area with benefits to local businesses in the area.
