Site Development Projects – The Miracle League

The Miracle League
Hibbing, MN

Conceptual Plan

The concept of the Miracle Filed of the Iron Range developed from a group of local residents who saw a need for a baseball field that allows children with mental and physical disabilities the experience of playing America’s favorite pastime.

 Becoming a Reality

Bennett Park in Hibbing was chosen as the appropriate site and funds were secured from the Pohlad Family Foundation and Minnesota Twins, the field quickly came to fruition with a long list of financial donations and contributions from Iron Range Resources & Rehabilitation Board (IRRRB), St. Louis County, the business community and residents of Hibbing.

JPJ provided site design and engineering services, worked with local volunteers, the City of Hibbing, Landscape Structures, and many other organizations to ensure the proper construction of the Miracle Field.

Opening Day Celebration

The field, now known as the Kevin Thoresen All-Star Miracle League Field, is the first handicap-accessible baseball field in the area, and spectators lined the fences for the opening event featuring speeches by the Minnesota Twins Chief Executive Jim Pohlad, two-time World Series champion Kent Hrbek, and several local organizers and supporters.
